what they eat, shapes their health and life.

We offer wholesome nourishing food

— Today and everyday.

Types of Dog Food

Dry Food vs Wet Food

Dry food is the mainstream choice for dog food.
While dry food, is a complete and balanced meal,
offers many benefits to dogs, we believe it also has its drawbacks.

The biggest issue that we see is water intake.
Each dog has different daily hydration needs.
However, one thing we can say for sure is that it’s difficult to meet
these needs with dry food and water alone.

That’s why we recommend wet food, which helps dogs
naturally hydrate with their meal.
By incorporating wet food, you can significantly contribute
to your dog’s health and well-being.

Dry Dog Food

Complete and Balanced Dry Food

Commercially available dry food meets the standards known
as the “complete and balanced nutrition” criteria.

What is Complete and Balanced Nutrition?

“Pet food designed to be fed as the primary daily diet for dogs or cats,
providing a nutritionally balanced product that, along with water,
can maintain the health of the pet at the specified life stage.”

Source: Japan Pet Food Association Website

In recent years, just like humans, the average lifespan of dogs has increased.
One of the key reasons for this is believed to be the widespread use of dry food,
which has enabled dogs to receive adequate nutrition.

The Issues with Dry Food

Dry food is convenient, affordable, and nutritionally balanced,
but it comes with some downsides.

The biggest concern is its low moisture content.
Just like humans, dogs’ bodies are made up of about 70% water,
and losing more than 15% of this water can be life-threatening.

Proper hydration is crucial for healthy blood circulation
and keeping cells fresh and functioning.

When dogs don’t drink enough water, waste is not properly flushed from the body,
which can lead to a range of health problems.

If you’re dealing with issues like eye discharge, tear stains,
skin conditions, hair loss, constipation, diarrhea, or joint problems,
dehydration could be the underlying cause.

Wet Dog Food

Your Dog’s Daily Water Needs

So, how much water does a dog actually need each day?

Take the Shiba Inu, a popular breed in Japan
(average weight around 10kg), for example.
Its daily water intake should be about:

10 × 0.75^2 × 132 = roughly 750ml

Larger dogs, of course, need even more.

Any dog owner knows that getting a dog to drink
this much waterthrough just dry food and
regular water is quite a challenge.

The good news is, adding wet food to their
meals can solve this problem.

Ishca’s food is packed with venison broth,
helping your dog stay hydrated throughout the day.

Venison

We use high-quality venison processed at a local meat processing facility,
following hygiene standards suitable for human food.
Venison E – 1

Low Fat, Low Calorie

High in Protein

Compared to beef, pork, or chicken,
venison has about 1/15 the fat (1.5g per 100g)
and 1.2 times more protein (22.3g per 100g)

Venison E – 2

Rich in Iron

Venison is exceptionally high in iron—
about 15 times more than chicken

DHA

Contains DHA

Venison contains DHA (docosahexaenoic acid),
an essential unsaturated fatty acid
that the body cannot produce on its own.

It helps lower triglycerides and bad cholesterol,
supporting healthy, free-flowing blood.

Venison E – 4

Rich in B Vitamins

Venison is packed with B vitamins,
which offer strong antioxidant benefits,
support cell regeneration and growth,
and help promote healthy fat metabolism.

Venison E – 5

Free from Chemicals

Wild deer feed on natural vegetation,
so they are not exposed to antibiotics,

hormones, or other chemicals

commonly found in livestock feed.

That makes venison a clean, safe,

and delicious source of protein—
for both people and their dogs.

with the ever-changing flavors of the season.

Farmers You Can Trust

At Ishca, all our vegetables are sourced from trusted local farmers
whose faces and stories you can see.

Of course, the same vegetables we use for our food
are also available for people to enjoy.

Q. Should I avoid giving grains to my dog?

A. Carbohydrates are an essential nutrient for dogs too.

Recent research has shown that dogs have
2 to 15 times more amylase, the enzyme
that digests carbohydrates, compared to wolves.

By feeding rice, dogs can benefit from the necessary carbohydrates,
as well as minerals and vitamins.

At Ishca, we turn rice into a smooth rice cream

and use it in small amounts.

Although you won’t see the rice grains,

we believe dogs, who often enjoy a little sweetness,

will love the gentle taste.

We source our rice from “Kuragaki Shiawase Rice” by Rakuno Kuragaki,
grown using eco-friendly farming methods,
including bio-top water paddies and reduced pesticide use.
