Ingredients
What Ishca values most is the quality of each ingredient
and the nourishment it carries within.
The environment in which it was raised,
what it has fed on, and the density of its nutrients—
we examine each of these carefully,
selecting only the ingredients that truly support a dog’s body.
On this page, we introduce the ingredients
that form the foundation of Ishca’s food.
Venison
Nutritional Benefits of Venison
Venison offers the following key characteristics:
Higher in protein compared to beef, pork, and chicken
Approximately one-fifteenth the fat content of beef and pork
Exceptionally rich in iron—about 15 times more than chicken
Contains DHA, known to support healthy blood circulation
Abundant in B vitamins with strong antioxidant properties
Low in calories yet high in protein, and rich in minerals and vitamins,
venison is not only highly nutritious but also remarkably palatable for dogs.
Its exceptional appeal at mealtime is something many owners quickly notice.

No Chemical Feed
Much of the meat we consume today comes from animals
raised on formulated feed produced through industrial processes.
When it comes to meat used in pet food, it is often difficult to know
where the animal was raised or what it was fed.
Wild deer, by contrast, grow up feeding on
natural vegetation in their native environment.
They are not exposed to antibiotics, growth hormones,
or other chemical additives commonly found in livestock feed.
For this reason, venison can be considered a clean,
trustworthy, and naturally flavorful source of protein.
Lower Risk of Allergies
As the variety of pet foods has expanded,
the number of dogs with food allergies has also increased.
A food allergy occurs when the immune system
—normally responsible for protecting the body—
mistakenly identifies a specific protein in food as a threat.
In most cases, allergies develop to ingredients a dog has eaten before.
Beef and chicken, commonly used in many commercial dog foods,
are among the more frequent allergens.
Venison, on the other hand, is still relatively uncommon.
For many dogs, it is a new or rarely consumed protein source.
This type of ingredient is known as a “novel protein,”
and it is generally associated with a lower risk of triggering allergic reactions.
For dogs with dietary restrictions due to allergies,
venison may offer a protein option they can enjoy more comfortably.
Building Healthy Kidneys
In traditional Eastern medicine, the kidneys are
often referred to as the “bank of vitality,”
as they are closely linked to lifespan.
The kidneys age faster than other organs
and are often called “silent organs”
because symptoms usually appear
only after significant damage—
making kidney failure a common issue in dogs.
The kidneys filter blood, remove toxins and waste,
and regulate fluid balance in the body.
A healthy kidney is essential for waste removal.
Ensuring your dog drinks enough water,
stays warm, and supports kidney strength
is crucial for maintaining their health.
Venison contains DHA, an omega-3 fatty acid
not found in other meats,
and its potential to slow the progression of
kidney disease is being researched.
Adding venison to your dog’s diet supports kidney health
while providing essential protein and nutrients.

Organic Vegetables
Seasonal, Pesticide-Free Vegetables
At Ishca, we use only pesticide-free vegetables grown locally in Kyotango.
Cultivated without chemical pesticides or synthetic fertilizers,
these vegetables draw deeply from the richness of the soil.
The result is produce with vibrant flavor,
natural aroma, and true depth of taste.
Today, almost any vegetable is available year-round.
Even so, Ishca chooses vegetables in season.
Because what is in season is at its peak—
most flavorful, most nourishing, and most full of life.
We hope to bring these seasonal blessings
to your dog’s bowl as well.
Rice
Gently Sweet Rice
Ishca includes a small amount of rice in our recipes.
Dogs are physiologically able to digest carbohydrates,
and carbohydrates serve as an important source of energy.
In appropriate amounts, rice provides energy,
along with essential minerals and vitamins.
We gently cook the rice into a soft porridge
and blend it into a smooth rice cream,
making it easy to digest and adding only a minimal amount.
Though the grains are no longer visible,
its subtle natural sweetness enhances overall satisfaction at mealtime.

Kelp
Kelp for Natural Umami
Kelp contains glutamic acid, a natural source of umami that dogs can perceive.
It enhances flavor, supports appetite, and increases mealtime satisfaction.
Kelp is also low in calories and rich in minerals.
Its dietary fiber gently supports digestive health
and helps maintain a balanced gut environment.
At Ishca, we use finely cut kelp sourced from Hokkaido.
Its thin slices release rich flavor with only a small amount,
while careful portioning ensures consideration for iodine intake.
